Pennsylvania is working towards updating the photo ID’s to meet Real ID requirements, but they won’t be ready for a couple of years.
The grace period for eight states was set to run out today, but the Department of Homeland Security has extended it by one month. That means will still be able to get into government buildings with your current ID.
There is no enforcement on commercial air travel until January 22, 2018.
Preliminary work on Real ID has begun, and PennDOT estimates compliant driver licenses and identification cards will be available in 2019. The extension runs through July 10.
