Eighteen fraternity brothers are facing charges in connection to the death of Timothy Piazza.

Piazza died February 2, and the brothers are members of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity on Penn State’s University Park campus.

The Centre County District Attorney announced the charges against 18 students after a Centre County Grand Jury investigation.

Eight of the students were hit with involuntary manslaughter charges, plus aggravated assault, hazing and furnishing alcohol to minors. This includes fraternity president Brendan Young.

In some cases, these primary eight students face 200 counts from three different parties dating back to Spring 2016.

The fraternity itself was also charged with involuntary manslaughter, hazing and furnishing alcohol to minors.

Six of the fraternity brothers face only one charge of tampering with evidence.

On paper, Beta Theta Pi was a model fraternity, but if you read fraternity members testimony to the Grand Jury, and a check of text messages between them about the night  Timothy Piazza died, it shows an entirely different picture, one that President Eric Barron calls inhumane, sickening and difficult to understand.
