Folks in Johnstown will join together this weekend to raise awareness and money for suicide prevention.

The annual Out of the Darkness Walk is on Sunday, October 14 at 1 p.m. in downtown Johnstown.

There will be speakers who have lost loved ones to suicide and booths with mental health resources available.

Plus, the event raises money for local providers to help families dealing with suicide or depression.

“It’s about prevention efforts, it’s about awareness efforts and it’s about supporting survivors of suicide,” said Stephanie Fry, the community relations specialist for Cambria Reach Crisis.

Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Central Park in Johnstown. You can register online here.

Organizers want to raise money to start a support group for families and friends who have lost loved ones to suicide.

You can donate money online here until December 31.
