WESTMONT, CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A preliminary report from the National Weather Service has confirmed one tornado touched down in Cambria County Thursday night.
The preliminary report says an EF-0 tornado touched down at Sunneyhanna Golf Course and moved through Stackhouse Park.
The path length of the tornado was about a mile and a half, but that range could be extended.
The NWS says the tornado was up to 300 yards wide.
“The majority of damage was to trees, with a swatch of trees downed through Stackhouse Park,” according to the NWS.
“Many trees were also down along Menoher Blvd.”
The NWS estimates the preliminary wind speeds were between 80-85 mph.
St. Gregory’s Parish in Daisytown was also severely damaged, but the NWS has confirmed that the damage in that area was not done by a tornado.
This is a developing story and we will be updating as we learn more.
