New sewer project causes major problems for Bedford County homeowner

George Dodd said he’s been dealing with sewage issues since the beginning of the summer.  Officials were at his home for the first time this morning, but he isn’t expecting much to change.

Dodd  was recently required to connect to a local sewage system, and said he has been dealing with sewage issues ever since.

“Months and months.  Definitely all summer.  Every time it rains heavy, the basement flooded,” said Dodd.

Dodd said he’s been reaching out for help for a while, and with the recent heavy rain, he finally got a response.

“It’s not the second or third, and we can go on.  This is the first time anyone has come to even look, but they have no decision on what they are going to do, or what will be done,” said Dodd.

Dodd said his basement is now completely ruined.  He blames the sewage system for leaving behind the mess.

“Human feces for number one.  The whole floor is covered with saturated toilet paper so forth and so on.  Everything in the basement looks like it’s destroyed.  It was above my furnace.  My hot water heater, my water tank.  Everything,” said Dodd.

Dodd said this is all completely out of his control.  He wants the town and the sewage authority to take responsibility.

“First off, they can start by coming over and cleaning my house, and somebody paying for everything I’ve lost.  It’s their problem,” said Dodd.

The Harrison Township Supervisor apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.  He said the problem has been addressed and it will not happen again.
