If you plan on bringing your RV to a Penn State tailgate this year, you may notice a change in where you will be allowed to park.

“This year with the season passes, you need a season pass to be in the RV lot, so this year we’re here at the Grange Fair, and from what we have seen so far it’s been a pretty spectacular time,” said Dylan Donnelly, a Penn State alum and tailgater.

Penn state says they want to improve the experience for some of their most loyal fans,
which means they’re only allowing season ticket holders to park their RV’s in the overnight lot.

Gary Mann, a tailgater who came all the way up from Texas, says more space is exactly what is needed.

“There is no way that you can get a 42-foot coach out of here without these cars and tents being gone.  You can’t maneuver in here,” said Mann.

The change will also improve safety, and it will allow emergency vehicles to move about more freely.

Some would like to see the upgrades to all lots where RV’s are parked.

“What they probably need to do, is have one parking lot just for RV’s, and not worry about these tents and the cars and everything else,” said Mann.

Another season ticket holder said she hasn’t noticed much of a difference since years past.

“We park in Orange RV, so it seems to be about the same over there, but we did drive through the overnight lot and you can see that it’s been reduced by about half,” said Jill Blescia, a Penn State alum and tailgater.

A new policy, a new season, but the energy and excitement of going to a Penn State game remains unrivaled.
