A new, educational center will help rural children in northern Cambria County live healthier lives.
The non-profit Small Town Hope is partnering with the Mario Lemieux Foundation to build a treehouse health center in Susquehanna Township. The foundation awarded Small Town Hope $150,000 to build the center.
The center will offer free, educational classes for parents and kids on various topics, including diabetes and healthy eating.
“We’re looking at bringing in additional resources to really make a positive impact within the rural communities involving children and their health,” said John Dubnansky, the Cambria County grants facilitator.
Construction is set to begin spring 2018 and be complete by fall 2018.
