WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A new nonprofit in our area is fulfilling a need that sometimes gets overlooked.
Unicornucopia gives birthday gifts to kids in group homes, and the organization is holding a shoe drive to support that mission.
Loyalty Barber Shop in Wilkes-Barre is one of the businesses collecting new and gently used shoes.
They will be sold to Funds2Orgs, and the money raised will benefit Unicornucopia.
Tessa Weigand and her small team of volunteers are granting birthday wishes for about 60 children across northeastern Pennsylvania.
“It’s something that is so rewarding,” said Weigand. “It makes the effort of our team totally worth it.”
Unicornucopia is collecting shoes through May 31st at the following drop-off locations:
-Resort Beverage in Tannersville
-Smiles 4 Keeps Pediatric Dentistry in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Bartonsville
-Baab’s Jewelry Showcase in Mountain Top
-Triangle Pharmacy in Mountain Top
-Loyalty Barber Shop in Wilkes-Barre
