Months after the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue, tighter gun laws are being introduced by the Pittsburgh City Council.

The measure would ban assault weapons, sawed-off shotguns, and other accessories within city limits.

Some believe the idea unfairly targets gun owners, others support the change.

“I believe this council needs to take every step possible to keep as many dangerous weapons out of peoples hands and off the streets,” said Dan Lavelle, Pittsburgh City Council.

“What did I do wrong? What did any law abiding gun owner do that’s wrong? How do they think they can take away my Constitutional right because of a tragedy that happened,” said Mt. Washington resident David Haid.

A public hearing will likely be next month, with a final vote planned for February.
