A local doctor says he has a program that can cover nearly 90-percent of your medical needs. Dr Zane Gates has unveiled a new healthcare plan that offers primary and specialty care. Also included—generic prescriptions, lab testing, imaging, sleep studies, home health care medical equipment and behavioral health care.
For an individual, the Empower 3 Center for Health Plan costs $165 a month for an individual with no co-pays or deductibles.
Dr Gates says it’s like buying a gym membership. “Our current system now, you buy a membership and if you want to use the treadmill it has a price, if you want to lift weights it has a price. In ours, you buy one price and you can use all the machines inside the facility that’s the concept, kinda like Netflix.”
You do need to get a wraparound plan for $100 to $200 dollars a month to cover hospital stays, surgery, and ER visits.
Dr Gates says his plan is now one of the options being offered to employees of the Altoona Area School District. For an employee plus one, the basic cost is $330. For a family, it’s $495. He says as more companies sign on, the cost will go down.
