Child care may soon be more affordable for working families thanks to a new bill.

Today democrats introduced the “Child Care for Working Families Act.”

If passed, the bill would focus on early learning, child care costs, and people who administer child care.

Pennsylvania senator Bob Casey says this bill could mean a brighter future for middle class children and their families.

“This is the right thing to do for the child, it’s the right thing to do for their parents, it’s the right thing to do to continue to raise wages and continue to build the middle class, for that parent and also for the child in the future,” said Casey.

The New America Foundation reports that in some states, paying for one year of child care can be more expensive for families than paying for one year of college tuition.
