Willie Davis, a 66-year-old local Navy veteran who was battling stage 4 cancer passed away Wednesday morning.

Davis lived in Brownstown Borough near Johnstown.

He held yard sales on the weekends to raise money for his own funeral  costs. One day, two young men, David Dunkleberger and Ed Sheetz were driving around and stopped by his yard sale.

When they learned that Willie was just trying to raise enough money so he could be buried next to his parents in Virginia. They started a Go FundMe page to help him out.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s Willie or the next guy,” said Dunkleberger. “To just help somebody in need, kind of just makes everyone a little better.”

“I’m going to miss life because there are people like that,” said Davis. “People that are willing to help somebody.”

That GoFund Me page has raised over $64,000 and Willie, David and Edward talked about using the money to help other veterans in need.
