Matthew Dreibelbis is currently behind bars for allegedly killing a man in August.

Police said initially he confessed, but a new letter has surfaced showing he’s pushing to prove his innocence.

Dreibelbis is facing several charges including murder and aggravated assault in connection to the death of Jeremy Cantolina.

Police said it happened on August 11th and their investigation led them to Dreibelbis, who said he had an affair with Cantolina’s wife.

Officials said Dreibelbis admitted to shooting Cantolina, and did it for love.

But recently Dreibelbis wrote to Centre County Judge Katherine Oliver.

In a handwritten letter he explains that his public defender, Deborah Lux, is not giving him proper representation and that she’s failed to file motions on behalf of him to prove his innocence.

Nowhere in the letter does Dreibelbis address his confession, rather disappointment in his public defender for not helping him get out of jail.

He also noted that Lux promised to visit him to discuss more details about his case but never showed up.

WTAJ has reached out to Lux, she has not returned our call.

The office of Judge Oliver said she’s not permitted to make any comment.

It is unclear what the representation for Dreibelbis will be moving forward.
