Police say Jeremy Cantolina died of a gunshot wound to the head, and Matthew Dreibelbis is accused of pulling the trigger.

It happened Aug. 11th, Cantolina was found lying in his driveway in Snow Shoe Township.

The investigation led police to Dreibelbis, 37, who police said later confessed to shooting the victim.

Officials learned over the past three and a half years, Dreibelbis had been having an affair with Cantolina’s wife, and the two ended up having a child together.

About two years later, police said Dreibelbis waited at the Cantolina’s home that Friday morning when he was leaving for work and fired two shots, one of which killed Cantolina.

During Dreibelbis’ preliminary hearing on Wednesday, an investigator said Dreibelbis claimed he “did it for love.”

Stacy Parks Miller, Centre County DA, responded by saying there’s nothing romantic about it.

“You know, it’s so cliché and we’ve seen these sad issue before and when people think they’re acting out of love or whatever, it’s never that. It’s definitely selfish motives, it’s just tyranny on the family,” Parks Miller said.

On Wednesday the judge bound over his charges including murder in the first and third degree..

He remains without bail and is set to move forward with a pre-trial.
