It has been five years since Dorothy Mountain has seen her daughter.
“It’s tearing me up inside and killing me,” Mountain told us.
She looks back at old pictures with Fawn’s best friend, Jacklyn Shumac. The years without her have been hard for the two.
“Thinking about the times we had together, tears would come to my eyes,” Shumac said. “I lost my friend, where is she?”
It was November 2012. At just 25-years-old, Fawn went missing without a trace. The disappearance is something her loved ones tell us is out of her character.
“This is not like my daughter,” Mountain explained. “When she leaves, she contacts me. She knows how to get in contact with me.”
Police have been investigating and following up on all leads. They said the case is still active and considered suspicious, meaning they don’t think she ran away.
Shumac remembers a significant other Fawn used to be afraid of. She said she’d often have to come to her rescue.
“There were many times that she would call me upset and times that I had to go and save her,” Shumac told us. “I would go pick her up and bring her to a comfort place.”
Something just doesn’t make sense and they want answers.
“It’s hard to deal with knowing that she could be alive or she could be dead,” Shumac said. “We have no answer.”
As they think about what could have happened, the two fear the worst, but won’t give up until they get closure.
“I’m not going to stop until I find my kid,” Mountain exclaimed.
Police said the case will remain active until the reason Fawn disappeared is discovered.

Fawn is described as being 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 105 pounds, blue eyes and brown hair that was dyed auburn. She is also described as having a large tattoo of angel wings with the words “RIP Kaydin.”
