A dog that was missing for more than a year is finally reunited with his Arizona family.

Thanks to the Coonhound’s microchip, a veterinarian in Roaring Spring was able to track down his parents. However, when mom and dad couldn’t make a cross country trip to pick him up because of a newborn baby, a local rescue group stepped up to find a way to get Jake home.

“They said to me ‘you’re not going to believe this, but we have a dog here from Arizona and we immediately thought of you. Can you help us get him home,'” Renae Metz, from A Darrah Bull Bully Rescue, said.

It’s unfortunate Jake can’t talk because how he got to Roaring Spring is still a mystery.

“I don’t know if he stopped in certain states, if he was stolen or if a truck driver brought him here,” Metz explained. “We just don’t have any idea.”

One thing we do know is how the dog got back to Arizona.

A group of volunteers came together to drive the dog home. Of course, along the way, they documented his trip with a lot of pictures and videos.

After 20 drivers, 3 overnight stays and more than 2,000 miles of traveling, Jake made it back to the Grand Canyon state. He let out a good howl to say thank you, I’m home.

There’s a page set up to help raise money for Jake’s health costs. Click here if you’d like to donate.
