ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — A mini food pantry is helping folks in need of food anytime of day.
The Counterman family built the “Caring Cupboard” a few months ago. Adam was inspired by a similar project done at a church he visits while away on business.
“If somebody just has a bad pay week or something like that, and just has a night that they don’t have anything and need something, there’s something there for them,” he said.
Located outside the Trinity Lutheran church in Juniata, the cupboard is filled with soups, water bottles, even plastic silverware. Adam said he would love to see the cupboard get refilled everyday.
“If somebody needs all that food that’s in there, it’s not our place to judge. That’s what it’s there for,” he said.
His young daughters, Annalisa, 5, and Avalynn, 6, said they loved helping their dad put together the box and do something good for their neighbors.
“I’m happy…because we’re sharing,” Annalisa said.
The Caring Cupboard is open 24/7. Anyone can stop by and pick up or drop off food, and it’s all anonymous.
