Ladies and gentlemen, introducing your 2017 Centre County Dairy princess, Gretchen Little.

“I talk to people about the industry about all the hard work we put into our animals and about how good dairy is for you and your diet,” said Little.

The best part is that milkshakes can be part of your three daily servings. While it’s not recommended to be a daily habit, it’s encouraged at the Centre County Grange Fair.

The Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association has partnered up with Taproot Kitchen, a local group that prepares those with intellectual disabilities to find a job in the culinary business.

“But with Taproot Kitchen, we get to see that it’s helping these people who are local to us,” said Little.

From start to finish, volunteers like David Sharpe whip up the sweet treat for fair goers to enjoy.

“Taproot is special to me because it gets me out of the house, it helps me make friends,” said Sharpe.

Proceeds will go towards building a commercial kitchen to help Taproot Kitchen expand its catering services.

“That is where I thrive.  I enjoy this opportunity.  It’s an opportunity most people don’t get to do but when you get to do it, you enjoy every second of it,” said Sharpe.

It’s a cup filled with hope, and of course quality ingredients.

“What makes a good milkshake? Lots of milkshake? Chocolate. Chocolate milkshakes are my favorite,” said Little.
