Today more than a thousand first responders, family and friends attended a memorial service to honor the lives of two York county firefighters, that lost their lives in the line of duty.

Ivan Flanscha and Zachary Anthony were battling a fire last week when the building collapsed. They later died from their injuries.

The memorial service included speeches from family members of the firefighters, and remarks from Governor Tom Wolf and Senator Bob Casey. Senator Casey also presented a folded flag to the families and expressed his condolences.

“We do express gratitude for what both Zachary and Ivan did. Their selfless service, and of course that’s an understatement,” he said.

Others spoke about the sacrifices firefighters make, and how these two firefighters will be forever remembered as heroes.

Hundreds lined the streets after the service in a show of support as the procession passed in their honor.
