It was a frigid New Year’s Day, but inside one local hospital there was a bundle of joy warming the room.
“I know it’s cold out, but this definitely makes the heart warm,” Barry Gobert said while holding his newborn baby girl.
Isabella Rose Gobert was born at 8:57 a.m. New Year’s morning. That makes her the first baby born in 2018 at UPMC Altoona.
“I’m a Labor Day baby,” proud mom, Kimberly Gobert, said. “My oldest is an Easter baby and now she’s a New Year baby so we’ve got quite a few holidays going on. It’s pretty exciting.”
Kimberly and Barry Gobert didn’t always think they’d be ringing in 2018 with this special delivery.
The Williamsburg couple headed to the hospital Sunday night around 10:30 p.m., but were sent home. However, Isabella wanted the New Year’s day baby title and the two headed back to the hospital again around 4 a.m. to deliver their little girl.
“As soon as we stepped in the room they mentioned us having the New Year baby and I asked them if that was still up for an option,” Kimberly said. “They said yeah and so here we are!”
Isabella Rose is 6lbs. 12oz., 18.5in. long and has a full head of hair.
“I can’t believe how much hair she has got,” Barry laughed. “I hope there’s somebody that can give this child a hair cut!”
She’ll head home to meet her siblings this coming Wednesday, but for now the Goberts are spending their holiday in the hospital and starting 2018 with a smile.
