Tuesday morning, Sam McClure called a meeting at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg to speak about his paid administrative leave.

McClure said the County Commissioners do not have the authority to place him on leave according to the county code.  He says they have done so illegally.

McClure said the language the commissioners used is inaccurate. He says he is more than just an ‘acting’ sheriff since he has been “performing all the duties as the Sheriff of Blair County and have been paid the same salary as [his] predecessor.” Due to that he should be entitled to all the same rights as a sheriff.

He did go on to say he is not allowed to comment on a personnel matter and wants to save the taxpayer money by not trying to fight it in court. However, he added that if the commissioners do not rescind their action, he will turn to the judicial system to get reinstated.
