ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — An Altoona native, who is making a name for himself on a nationally televised show, now has his own month.
Altoona Mayor Matt Pacifico has officially declared the month of May “Jimmy Mowery Month” in the city.
The 31-year-old is currently one of the top 24 contestants on “The Voice.”
City leaders said the proclamation honors his hard work and accomplishments on the show.
Jimmy’s brother, Jacob Mowery, told us the hometown support means a lot.
“It’s the craziest thing that could possibly exist,” Jacob explained. “At no point did we ever think there was going to be a Jimmy Mowery month.”
Jimmy’s family and friends are meeting to watch Monday’s episode of “The Voice” at Primanti Bros. in Altoona. Anyone is welcome to come and support him.
