Hard damage happened to Martha Furnace Field in Julian, impeding the practice schedules of two girls’ softball teams — the Hurricanes and the Vengeance.

While the field has experienced hard damage before, it has never been this bad — now, the girls have to find a new place to practice.

“I’ve been playing at this field for 3 or 4 years and I’ve never seen anything like that,” Radley Housel, the field supervisor said.

While the field was built with the help of volunteers, the folks who oversee the park are worried they will have to start over.

“There’s probably a week worth of work here, it’s a matter of getting the field dry,” Bob Hall, the President of Huston Township Parks and Recreation said.

To restore the area, they must now rely on the help of neighbors, friends and residents.
