The United States Postal Service is investigating after a scam was discovered at drop off boxes in our state.
The scammers are putting some type of sticky substance on the inside of the drop off box – and when people put their letters inside they are getting stuck on it.
USPS said they are aware of the situation and doing all they can to ensure identity safety of costumers.
The theft of mail or tampering with postal service mailboxes is a federal offense, and guilty parties face up to 25-years in prison if convicted on mail tampering charges, potentially paired with additional charges if also convicted of identity theft.
