Lottery jackpots surpass $300 Million

If you play the lottery, you have more opportunities to win some big money this week.

The Mega Millions jackpot rose to $346 million and the Powerball jackpot stands at $307 million.  No lottery player was able to match all the winning numbers of the weekend.

You can watch both drawings Live on WTAJ-TV.  The drawing for Mega Millions is Tuesday at 11 p.m. Powerball is set for Wednesday at 11 p.m.

While no one matched all the Powerball numbers, The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Monday that a few people are a bit richer.

Saturday’s Powerball® drawing created three big winners in Pennsylvania, including a $1 million winning ticket that was sold at Smokin’ Lane, 2437 Butler St., Easton, Northampton County.

The ticket matched all five white balls drawn, 11-21-28-33-45, but not the red Powerball 11, to win $1 million, less applicable tax withholding. The store earns a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Also in the August 5 drawing, two Powerball® with Power Play® tickets worth $100,000 each were sold at Puff Tobacco Products, 401 N. Mill St., Danville, Montour County and at Good Neighbor Mini Market, 700 N. 37th St., Philadelphia.

Those tickets matched four of the five white balls drawn and matched the Powerball number to win $100,000, less applicable tax withholding. They were sold with the $1 Power Play® option, which boosted the prize to $100,000 instead of $50,000 because Saturday’s drawn multiplier was two. Each store earns a $500 selling bonus.

Prizes must be claimed and tickets validated before winners can be identified. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. The Lottery encourages the holder of a large prize-winning ticket to promptly sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at the nearest Lottery office.

Nearly 67,100 Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball tickets won prizes of various amounts in the August 5 drawing, including 15,056 tickets purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied their prizes by four.

Players should check every ticket, every time, and immediately sign winning tickets. Lower-tier prizes may be claimed at a Lottery retailer.
