According the Pennsylvania Treasurer’s office there are more than 500 military medals that have gone unclaimed or have been lost.
Treasurer Joe Torsella is looking to return those medals to their rightful owners and families.
So far 7 of the lost medals have been returned including 3 Purple Hearts. Examples of some the medals that have gone unclaimed include Bronze Stars, Purple Hearts and other service awards.
Claimants may search Treasury’s website for unclaimed property, or Treasury’s Bureau of Unclaimed Property is also available toll-free at 1-800-222-2046, to help conduct a thorough search for unclaimed property.
