Logan Township Supervisors voted to name David Reese as their new chief of police Thursday evening.

Reese was a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 20 years, worked in school security and most recently worked with the Blair County Sheriff’s Office for the past two years. Now, he’s starting the next chapter in his career as Logan Township Police Chief.

“I just am really…proud to be the chief of police here. The Logan Township Police Department has a very good reputation for professionalism and fairness,” Reese said.

With Reese’s extensive law enforcement training, township supervisors look forward to what he’ll bring to the department.

“Whenever he met with the board he was very open. He came up with a lot of positive ideas in how he wanted to proceed on taking over the Logan Township Chief of Police,” Logan Township Supervisor James Patterson said.

Reese said he hopes to get to know the citizens and expand the department’s social media, but there is one thing that is priority number one.

“I’m very passionate about safe schools. I’d like to get down to the schools and talk with officials there and make sure that they’re doing things that they need to be doing to have our children, to make sure our children are safe in the township.”

Monday will be Reese’s first official day as police chief.
