While many are still looking for answers after a mass shooting at a Florida high school, others in our region are wondering why someone would threaten area schools.

Police in Huntingdon County said a Mount Union student is being charged with terroristic threats after he made threats on social media he was going to shoot up the school.

Officers took the student into custody at the school with no weapon on Friday.

In Somerset County, another student is facing terroristic threat charges after police said the 17-year-old said he was going to shoot up the school and the people in it.

We’re told on Friday numerous parents and grandparents contacted them in reference to this threat at Shade Junior/Senior High School.

That juvenile was arrested today.

Then in Elk County, officials said they got a call about a threat that a Johnsonburg student said he was going to shoot up the school Thursday in class.

The investigating officer said he searched the student’s home and didn’t find any weapons or evidence that would lead him to believe the student could carry out the threat.

No charges have been filed against that student.
