DUNCANSVILLE, BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Former employees at North American Communications said the company’s president, Rob Herman, told them on Monday their facility in Duncansville was closing, leaving close to 300 people without jobs.

One former employee told us she was blind-sided by the news they received that afternoon.

She said, “I only was able to work for them for a short time, but in that time, it seemed we would be open forever…It just all came as a surprise. We don’t have all the information ourselves yet.”

She also told us many of her co-workers had issues with their payrolls on Friday, some not getting paid until Monday afternoon.

President and CEO of Altoona Blair-County Development Corporation, Stephen McKnight, said “The news of NAC’s intent to close was sudden and obviously deeply saddening…While we understood that sales and the potential pipeline appeared promising for the company, it appears as though the financial structure needed to continue operations and get them to the next level has fallen short.”

We stopped by the Duncansville facility on Tuesday afternoon to try to get a comment or statement on the closing, but no one was available.
