Nurses at an area hospital are staging a one-day strike.

The walkout by registered nurses at Indiana Regional Medical Center began at 7 a.m. this morning and is slated to end at 7 a.m. tomorrow.

Meantime, the hospital says all regular procedures, surgeries and emergency services are available despite the strike.

The medical center says it’s brought in replacement nurses for a minimum of five days, at a cost of $1.5 million.

The hospital says it’ll deduct the extra staffing cost from its last contract proposal.
