A local Millheim firefighter, mother and wife was killed in a car crash.
The Centre County coroner said the victim is Crystal Wetzel, 36, of Aaronsburg.
Investigators said the crashed happened around 5:45 p.m. on Friday, November 16.
A driver slammed into the back of a farm tractor on Penns Valley Pike, then drove into oncoming traffic and hit Wetzel’s car.
Wetzel died from a head trauma injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Millheim Fire Company said Wetzel was an active member. In the wake of her death, the fire company released a statement on Facebook:
“It is with unbelievable sadness and angst that we have lost our active member, Crystal Estright Wetzel to an vehicle accident while returning home to her family, her husband Brian, and their two young children. In this time of sorrow, we are all in heartfelt shock as a company and family. Her cheerfulness and assistance in serving the community through the fire service was boundless. A “Thank you” simply is not enough sometimes and this is one of of those times. Go in peace Crystal. Till we meet again sister.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Crystal’s family pay for her funeral costs.
