People in our region are stepping up to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department spent Saturday loading a U-Haul packed with donations.

The truck was filled with things like food, water, school supplies, and cleaning items. Organizers said you name it, they probably packed it!

One volunteer told us he’s so happy people came together for the ones who need it most.

“I hope that they feel a little bit of peace that they were able to help in this disaster with Hurricane Harvey,” volunteer firefighter Justin Isenberg said. “I hope it gives a new light to people to show people still care.”

The U-Haul heads to Texas Sunday morning.
