A nearly $30,000 grant will help local firefighters fight wildfires.

The money was awarded through a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) program to help train and get equipment specifically for brush and forest fires.

The money can be used to purchase mobile or portable radios, install water supply equipment, wildfire prevention and mitigation work, and more.

The Pleasant Gap Fire Company will receive a $10,000 grant and the Dauntless Fire Company in Ebensburg also received more than $7,000.
