A Cambria County doctor has been charged with prescribing Methadone illegally.
79-year-old Dr. William Go, Jr. specializes in pain management and acupuncture.
His office is located on Scalp Avenue, in Richland.
According to the state Attorney General’s office, a report that Dr. Go had requested a nude photo of a female patient to determine whether he wanted to treat her for drug addiction started the investigation.
The Attorney General’s office says when agents executed a search warrant, they learned that Dr. Go was prescribing Methadone for drug addiction without being licensed or registered to do so.
They also discovered that he was writing prescriptions for controlled substances for himself, and failed to keep any records of them, as required by law.
He was arraigned on three felonies, including delivery of a controlled substance.
Dr. Go was able to post $75,000 bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
The Cambria County DA’s office says the investigation is ongoing and could result in more charges being filed.
