Turner’s All-Star Cheer received the prestigious “D2 Summit Champion Rings.”

There will be a “Ring Ceremony” Thursday, September 6 at Rizzo’s of Windber starting at 6 p.m.

On May 13th of 2018, Turner’s Senior 4 Team won the D2 Summit held at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida.

There are 12,000 small cheer gyms across the country, and only the top 10 percent received a bid to compete.

Turner’s All-Star Cheer is made up of 27 girls across Cambria, Blair, Somerset, and Bedford counties. The girls range from 12-18 years old.

After the team received two perfect scores during the preliminary and final rounds, they won the distinguished title. With the title comes the honor of specially made rings. The rings have arrived in Johnstown, and the girls will receive them September 6.

The D2 Summit Championship is the highest honor a small gym can win. The odds of a team winning the championship are less than one percent.

This is the first time a small gym from this region has won.
