Flower arrangements for Mother’s Day are being put together at Warner’s Florist Gifts & Greenhouses.

The owner, Garry Warner, told us this is actually their busiest time of year, even topping Valentines Day. The National Retail Federation estimates more than $2 billion will be spent on flowers.

“Orders start a week or two ahead of time,” Warner said. “We’ve already started delivering some outdoor pots for mothers day.”

At the jewelry store, Americans are expected to spend around $4.6 billion.

“Bracelets are really popular,” Don Beerbower, owner of Beerbower Jewelers, explained. “Some say ‘number one mom’ and some just have birthstones of the children.”

What about a spa day? It never hurts to get mom a gift card for a facial or massage. In fact, that’s where Americans will be spending $2 billion.

“It’s something that mothers don’t usually take the time or the money to do,” Renee Hetrick, owner of Radiance Day Spa, said. “So it’s really a special gift to give for Mother’s Day.”

If you haven’t gotten your mom something for Mother’s Day, you’re running out of time! The special day is this coming Sunday. However, don’t worry, businesses are ready for last minute shoppers.

“We’ve seen a steady flow of people buying gifts, but generally it’s last minute,” Beerbower told us.

This Mother’s Day is adding up to be one of the most expensive on record.

Officials estimate $23.1 billion dollars will be spent on moms. This makes it the second highest spending by Americans on record for the holiday, just slightly behind last year.
