Local band marching their way to the national stage

Even though it’s summer, the Bald Eagle Area Marching Band was practicing Wednesday night.

“We practice every week,” Jacob Michael said. “Sometimes I go home and I practice myself.”

Most of the band members have been playing for years, but now they’re going to be on the national stage.

“It’s just really exciting because the whole country gets to see you and you get your name out there,” Tori Siegle told us.

The band is taking their talents to Washington, D.C. because they were chosen to be part of the National Independence Day Parade.

“They call it ‘America’s Parade,'” Kellie Long, the band director, explained. “They only choose so many bands throughout the country.”

The group is excited to represent not only the community, but also the state.

“Maybe people don’t know about our school,” Miya Barton said. “Once they see us in the parade they’ll know more about us.”

The parade is set to begin July 4, 2018 at 11:45 a.m. If you can’t make it to D.C., you can watch a video recording of the event by going to this link.
