A local ambulance company now has new equipment that will improve their treatment of the youngest patients. The Hollidaysburg American Legion Ambulance Service recently bought new automatic blood pressure cuffs that include sizes for infant, up to adult.

Thanks to a grant from the Ronald Mcdonald House of Charities of Mid-Penn, they also purchased smaller pulse oximetry cables that allow them to better assess oxygen levels in babies and toddlers.

Paramedic and supervisor Matthew Replogle said, “It makes the assessment and the treatment for the patients a lot easier, a lot more accurate. It’s a little bit higher tech than we had before and so, that gives us the ability to treat more appropriately.”

With the funds they have left, they plan to buy advanced airway equipment that can be used on infants.
