An 11-year-old cancer survivor from Blair County will soon receive a new heart.
Ryder McDermitt from Hollidaysburg learned he needed a heart transplant this summer. Ryder developed heart problems as a result of his battle with leukemia. He was diagnosed at only 18-months, and then after multiple rounds of chemotherapy and full body radiation, he had to have a cord blood transplant.
He will undergo surgery in Pittsburgh at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning.
Ryder is a little league baseball player in Hollidaysburg.
