Thursday, April 13, 2017 marks the one year anniversary of Johnstown’s Little Red Mailbox.

An anniversary celebration will take place at Point Park. There will be free food and people will update the garden near the mailbox with painted rocks.

The goal of the mailbox is to spread positivity. Inside, there’s a journal where people can write messages of hope.

“The messages are a lot about Johnstown itself. Some people write about their families, the future, but a lot of people are trying to lift Johnstown and say this is a great place and we want to see it come back,” said Tasha Adams, who works for development and media at Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers.

The anniversary event will take place at the mailbox in Point Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 13. It’s free and open to the public.
