A local landmark in Johnstown will soon get a new name.

Wednesday night, Johnstown City Council awarded The Sargent’s Group, Inc. naming rights to Point Stadium.

The five-year deal will bring in $15,000 a year to the city, which will be put in a fund to use for the stadium.

“I just want to do something. I feel so attached to the town and to the people that I sort of grew up with and formed my business with,” said Sara “Sally” Sargent, the owner of The Sargent’s Group, Inc.

Sargent says she can’t believe that her name will be on the very same stadium where she used to watch ball games growing up.

“When I was a teenager, I used to sit and watch my boyfriend play in AAABA. It just became very special to me,” Sargent said.

Sargent and the city still have to finalize the contract. Once that’s done, Sargent says she’ll start thinking about picking out a font for the stadium’s new name.

“Sargent Stadium at the Point. That’s my hope,” said Sargent. “I’m very proud to have my name on the Point Stadium. Very proud.”
