Johnstown train station reuse study

PennDOT, the Johnstown Area Heritage Association and other city leaders and organizations are conducting a reuse study to develop the station so it could help revitalize the area.

The goal is to create a hub for transportation and tourism, by adding additional train service, buses, restaurants or even a farmer’s market.

“Focus on the multi-modal transportation use of this building, but then what goes with that to make a facility that will really serve Johnstown residents and visitors,” said Richard Burkert, the President and CEO of the Johnstown Area Heritage Association.

The train station is also being renovated. Both the reuse study and the renovations should be complete early this summer.
