The Johnstown Redevelopment Authority (JRA) approved a new sewer billing service agreement on Thursday, which they hope will cut costs and streamline billing.
The new 5-year contract is with RDM, the manager of the Greater Johnstown Water Authority (GJWA).
The new agreement will save JRA over $300,000 dollars a year and address concerns from its customers, including lowering the late posting fee from $50 to $15.
“The $50 posting, the numerous bills, the different locations that they need to go to. Our hopes are moving forward that we can streamline this process for our residents and our rate payers,” said Melissa Komar, the executive director of JRA.
Customers of GJWA and Johnstown Regional Sewage, which is run by JRA, will now get one bill with the itemized costs.
The new contract won’t take effect until October 1, 2017.
