Johnstown is getting new trash cans thanks to the Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership.
The Partnership bought 30 trash cans for $11,000 to place throughout the Central Business District. They will be located on Main, Market, Vine, Clinton and Franklin Streets.
The Partnership’s president, Melissa Radovanic, said they noticed a littering problem in the city about two years ago and were finally able to get the money for the trash cans earlier this year.
“We hope people will put their trash where it belongs. Perception is reality. People see trash and they think crime goes along with that. We want to clean up the Central Business District and we hope people will do the right thing with their garbage,” said Melissa Radovanic, the president of Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership.
They hope to install all the trash cans by the end of the week.
