Johnstown City leaders are still open to rolling the dice and bringing a mini casino into the city.
“Any revenue stream we can find. We’re willing to take a look at,” said Interim City Manager Curt Davis.
Nothing official is in the works yet, just informal conversations with city leaders and local business owners. The city did not opt-out of consideration as a potential site for a satellite casino, therefore the city is still in the running.
Redevelopment Authority officials said they provided information on possible locations for a satellite casino. Now, it’s a waiting game.
Davis said a casino could bring in jobs, property tax revenue and tourism. However, Davis said it would take everyone coming to the table and agreeing before the city would go all in.
“When you do a proposal like that, you have to put a lot on the table. How would you handle it? Would people come in and stay overnight? That’s not a proposal you throw together overnight,” Davis said.
