There was a packed house at the watch party for Blair County Sheriff nominee James Ott Tuesday night.

He edged out in the polls ahead of Former Chief Deputy Sam McClure.

While Jim celebrated with supporters at the U.S. Hotel and Tavern in Hollidaysburg, he told WTAJ’s Karina Cheung the win was “very humbling.”

Ott’s opponent, Sam McClure says he was thankful for the experience.

“During this time of campaigning, I’ve met an unbelievable amount of people. Great folks in Blair County, and a lot of people that have come in to support me and my campaign,” said McClure.

Ott could have competition in November’s election.

Tuesday morning, Holly Garner, the current Chief Deputy of the Blair County Sheriff’s Department was out at the polls asking people to write her in for the Sheriff’s race.

She only needed 100 write in votes to get her name on the Democratic Ballot.

We should have results by Friday.
