LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — ‘Jeopardy!’ champ and Las Vegan James Holzhauer was honored Thursday with a key to the Las Vegas Strip, along with the declaration of May 2 as “James Holzhauer Day.”  Ever since his first day on the show, Holzhauer has been a ‘Jeopardy!’ phenomenon, winning 21 straight games and $1.6 million.

8 News Now Anchor Brian Loftus spoke one-on-one with Holzhauer about a wide-range of topics. They discussed his his love of Las Vegas, his decision to give some of his winnings to local charities, his dream category, his love of the Golden Knights, his choice to honor 1 October victims on the show, along with his reaction to ‘Jeopardy!’ host Alex Trebek’s recent comment that Holzhauer’s game has “no weakness.”

Holzhauer even discussed his pre-‘Jeopardy!’ training, which involved standing in his living room watching the show in dress shoes, and practicing on a homemade buzzer he made from a mechanical pencil!

Moving forward with his newfound success and fame, Holzhauer says he hopes to, “Find balance in my life. I want to have mostly the same life I had before, just a little bit extra.”
