Richland School District Foundation announced that five innovative teaching mini-grants have been awarded to the following teachers:

Joanna Haupt, who is a third grade teacher, was awarded the Innovative Teaching Mini-Grant for an amount up to $500 to purchase STEAM Bins to facilitate cooperative learning activities and creative thinking skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
Rebecca Sabo-Shriver, a second grade teacher, was was awarded the Innovative Teaching Mini-Grant for an amount up to $500 for the purchase of Character Building kits for every second grade class to teach character education skills of honesty, sharing, citizenship, and charity. 

Secondary physical education teacher, Chad Duryea, was awarded an Innovative Teaching Mini-Grant in an amount up to $500 to purchase eight Spike Ball Sets to help increase student academic performance through physical activity, that is supported by fifty studies that were reviewed and gained support of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

Ben Easler is a secondary orchestra teacher was awarded the Innovative Teaching Mini-Grant for an amount up to $500 to expose music students to Broadway artist Adam Pascal, whol will visit Richland High School and teach classes and perform with the students in an evening concert at the Richland Perform Arts Center. Adam Pascal’s resume includes starring as Huey Calhoun in Broadway’s Tony Award winning musical Memphis and as Billy Flynn in Broadway’s long running hit Chicago. 

Secondary Chemistry Teacher Bryn Spangler was awarded the Innovative Teaching Mini-Grant for an amount up to $500 to purchase Breakout EDU kits to enhance the chemistry curriculum by ehancing the problem-solving and critical thinking skills by using clues, codes and other various strategies.
