“Winter Iceskapes” ice skating recital will highlight the 2nd Annual Winterfest at Galactic Ice on Saturday, December 15, starting at 3 p.m.
More than a dozen solo and ensemble ice skating numbers that are choreographed to traditional favorites, and various other Christmas songs. The Lakemont Figure Skating club and the Theatre on Ice students will also perform to music from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker,” and songs including “Baby, it’s cold outside!”, “Chrissy the Christmas Mouse,” and others.
“We’re proud to offer this compendium of skating styles and talents to the Altoona community,” said John Kauffman, the Rink’s Director of Skating. “Many students have worked extra hard to practice and perfect their numbers for this Winter Iceskapes! Recital. We hope that our audience will enjoy watching the show as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.”
Admission for the recital is $5 for adults, $3 for children and young adults under the age of 18.
The Winterfest will also feature a Public Skate, a Learn to Skate, and a special visit by Santa Claus.
Following the recital, Galactic Ice is offering a free, 20-minute lessons during a Learn to Skate session.
Later in the evening, the Public Skate with a visit from Santa Claus offers special admission of only $2 to anyone with an Ice Show ticket stub. Normal admission is $9 and includes skate rental. Public Skate runs from 8:30 to 10 p.m.
