A Huntingdon County woman is getting ready to celebrate her 101st birthday, but she needs a little help from you.
When Mabel Hall turned 100 last year, she wanted 100 cards. She ended up collecting more than 200.
This year she once again has a goal of getting as many cards as she can.
“I want to thank everyone for sending me a card,” Mabel said. “They write things in my letters not even knowing me.”
Mabel was born in 1918.
When you meet her, within seconds she has you truly thinking age is just a number.
“I feel good because I don’t feel that old,” she smiled. “I just don’t feel that old.”
Mabel likes to stay active.
Crocheting is one of her passions. She also loves cooking and rumor has it she has some specialties.
“I’ve made donuts and cinnamon rolls,” Mabel said. “I know some like my fried potatoes, some like my fried chicken and so on.”
Mabel will turn 101 on Sunday, March 24. She’s asking people from all over to help be part of her long life.
All it takes is one simple card, addressed to Mabel Hall, wishing her a happy birthday and many more.
“I thank the Lord every day that he gives me the air to breathe,” Mabel said. “I still give him all the credit.”
Mabel’s family is holding an open house Saturday, March 23 from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Petersburg Fire Hall. It’s open to anyone wanting to send well wishes. They’re hoping more than 100 guests will be there to celebrate.
You can send cards to 5256 Barree Road, Alexandria, PA 16611.
